The defense chiefs of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan are set to meet in Thailand to discuss the impending termination of GSOMIA,... Seoul's military intel-sharing pact with Tokyo.
Government sources say Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo will hold a thirty-minute meeting with his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono on Sunday morning local time,... as well as trilateral talks with U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.
Topping the agenda will be Seoul's decision to end the GSOMIA pact, which is due to expire on November 23rd.
Washington and Tokyo want to maintain the deal,... but Seoul says it may only reconsider if export restrictions targeting South Korea are lifted by Japan.
The meetings come on the sidelines of the 6th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus... which will be held through Monday.
