The top generals of South Korea and the U.S. sat down this morning in Seoul for a round of annual security talks.
They discussed a range of issues, and the U.S. side vowed its utmost efforts to defend South Korea.

The United States reaffirmed its firm and unwavering commitments to South Korea and vowed to provide extended deterrence.
During the 44th Military Committee Meeting held in Seoul on Thursday, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, told his South Korean counterpart Park Han-ki that the United States is prepared to respond to any attack on the Korean Peninsula, using the full range of its military capabilities.
The two sides assessed the security situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula and agreed to strengthen their joint defense posture, as well as to carry out an efficient transition of wartime operational control from a U.S.-led to an ROK-led Combined Forces Command.
Seoul and Washington also reportedly reviewed the results of their joint training in August, which tested Seoul's initial operational capability for the envisioned transfer.
The two representatives also acknowledged the importance of multinational partnerships in achieving peace and stability, and vowed to strengthen cooperation with regional neighbors.
The details of the annual meeting will be shared at the Security Consultative Meeting set for Friday at South Korea's Defense Ministry.
