Host for 2020 Golden Globes.
On January 5, 2020, Ricky Gervais will host
the Golden Globes for a record fifth time.
The British comedian, who has repeatedly sworn over the
years that he would never return, previously hosted the
Golden Globes from 2010 to 2012, and then again in 2016. .
In a statement, Gervais spoke about his
decision to host the 2020 ceremony, saying
they “made [him] an offer [he] can’t refuse.”.
“Once again, they've made me an offer I can’t
refuse. But this is the very last time I’m doing this,
which could make for a fun evening.”

Gervais, who is known for his harsh jokes
at the expense of A-list celebrities, has often
been criticized for his inappropriate quips.
However, Chairman of NBC Entertainment Paul Telegdy says Gervais's quips provide
a “palpable electricity” when hosting. .
“There is always a palpable electricity in the room when Ricky
takes the Globes stage … It is sure to make for an unexpected
evening. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve.”
