Incredible footage shows a Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane descend close to the Manning River, New South Wales to refill water to fight the raging bushfires.

The specialised chopper - known as an Erickson Aircrane - is seen swooping around from behind trees with a yellow sky backdrop caused by wildfire smoke to fill its bucket with water.

It was tackling the Hillville bushfire on November 9, which has been part of infernos described by the Rural Fire Service as "catastrophic."

The filmer explained: "The November bushfires are being fought with many firefighting helicopters.

"In response to the Hillville bushfire, which spread to Old Bar and Wallabi Point, the Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane (aka Erickson Aircrane) collects water from the Manning River between Oxley Island and Cabbage Tree Island."
