On the third anniversary of the centre's demonetisation policy, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday hit out at the Modi government for claiming that demonetisation was a "slayer of all evils", saying it proved to be a "disaster" that has all but destroyed the economy. The Congress leader's criticism came a day after global credit agency Moody's lowered its outlook on India's ratings to "negative" and a month after it also lowered its growth forecast for the economy, which is going through a severe and prolonged slump amid low demand.

नोटबंदी को आज तीन साल पूरे हो गए. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने तीन साल पहले आज ही के दिन यानी 8 नवंबर, 2016 को रात तकरीबन 8 बजे नोटबंदी का ऐलान किया था. पीएम मोदी ने इसे आतंकी फंडिंग, भ्रष्‍टाचार और कालेधन की रोकथाम के लिए जरूरी बताया था। हालांकि आर्थिक विशेषज्ञों ने देश की अर्थव्‍यवस्‍था पर इसके नकारात्‍मक असर को लेकर आगाह किया तो विपक्ष समय-समय पर इसे लेकर मोदी सरकार को घेरता रहा है। अब इस घोषणा के तीन साल पूरे होने पर कांग्रेस महासचिव प्रियंका गांधी ने सरकार को आड़े हाथों लिया है।
