Apple Pledges $2.5 Billion
to Tackle CA Housing Crisis.
Apple's five-point plan includes $1 billion
devoted to mortgage assistance, $1 billion devoted
to investment in affordable housing and $300 million
for development of land that Apple already owns.
The remaining $200 million
will be devoted to a housing
fund that will serve vulnerable
populations in San Francisco.
Affordable housing means stability and dignity, opportunity and pride. When these things fall out of reach for too many, we know the course we are on is unsustainable, and Apple is committed to being part of the solution, Tim Cook, Apple CEO, via CNN Business.
According to Apple, the money
will "take approximately two years
to be fully utilized depending on
the availability of projects.".
Apple's commitment to
solving the California housing
crisis is the most significant
from any tech company, so far.
Google recently pledged
$1 billion to address the crisis
