Autumn beauty to peak at Mt. Bibong in city of Jecheon
  • 4 years ago
The country is heading toward the peak of autumn.
And the city of Jecheon, in Chungcheongbuk-do Province, is one of the best places in the country to take in the season's natural beauty.
Our Lee Kyung-eun is standing by to show us the scene.
Kyung-eun, how is it looking there?
Hi, Mark.
I am standing at the peak of Bibongsan Mountain, in the city of Jecheon.
Mountains here are changing color into autumn hues.
And the place where I am standing right now offers one of the most breathtaking views of that autumn foliage.
Unfortunately, today, you can't get a clear picture of the site because of the fog and fine dust blown in from China.
But still, at the top of the mountain you can get a 360-degree view of the city, and a magnificent scenery of Cheongpung Lake which is what the city is most famous for.
You can also see multiple tourist attractions along the lakeside,...including Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex where there's a collection of Korean traditional architecture and artifacts.
And Cheongpung Land is located nearby, where you can enjoy extreme sports, like bungee jumping.
And the good thing is, you don’t have to hike up here.
There’s a newly built cable car that takes you straight to the observation point in just nine minutes.
Or, you can choose to take a monorail which allows you to see and feel the nature more closely.
Now, to get here,... takes about two to three hours from Seoul by car,...but it’s definitely worth the trip.
But if you can't make it here, there are other places to see the autumn leaves.
We normally say that autumn foliage is at its peak when 80 percent of the mountains change the colors.
And because leaves change color as the weather gets cold, the changes begin from the north and spread down south.
So, places like Seoraksan, Bukhansan, and Chiaksan are already seeing vibrant colors, ...while southern regions and Jeju island will reach their peak soon.
