Protesters in Hong Kong defy face-mask ban to demand greater democracy
  • 4 years ago
Despite riot police warnings, pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong stayed brave by wearing now-banned face masks on Halloween.
That said, protesters covering their faces were prevented from entering Lan Kwai Fong, a traditional spot to celebrate Halloween, and riot police fired tear gas at protesters gathered in Kowloon.
Also on Thursday, a Hong Kong court banned the posting and spreading of online messages inciting violence.
Hong Kong protesters say they plan to boycott China's Alibaba e-commerce platform Taobao during the upcoming Double 11 shopping festival on November 11th.
