The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected telecom companies' appeal against the government's definition of adjusted gross revenue. The Supreme Court ordered telecom carriers, including Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, to pay the government as much as Rs 92,000 crore in dues, which includes penalties and interest. The Supreme Court said that the adjusted gross revenue will also include other items besides licence fee.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने गुरुवार को टेलीकॉम कंपनियों को तगड़ा झटका दिया है। सर्वोच्च अदालत ने एडजेस्टेड ग्रॉस रेवेन्यू मामले में दूरसंचार विभाग के पक्ष में फैसला सुनाया है. कोर्ट ने आठ टेलीकॉम कंपनियों को उन पर बकाया 92,000 करोड़ रुपये की रकम चुकाने के निर्देश दिए हैं. इस रकम के साथ ही टेलीकॉम कंपनियों को पेनल्टी भी देनी होगी. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने फैसले में कहा कि ये बकाया कितने समय में दिया जाएगा वो कोर्ट तय करेगा.
