Irving joins Kiki Vandeweghe (47 points for POR in 1984) and Wilt Chamberlain (43 points for PHI in 1959) as the only players to score 40 points in a team debut. Karl-Anthony Towns led the way for the Timberwolves with 36 points (11-22 FG, 7-11 3pt FG), 14 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in the victory. With the win, the Timberwolves improve to 1-0, while the Nets fall to 0-1 on the season.
