President Donald Trump announced that Turkey has agreed to a permanent ceasefire in northern Syria and that he has ordered the lifting of U.S. sanctions announced earlier in the month. He also said "a small number of U.S. troops will remain in the area" and referred to Syria as "long blood-stained sand."
