Ozone Hole Shrinks to
Smallest Size On Record.
The shrinkage has been attributed
to unusually warm temperatures
high above Antarctica.
This is the third time in 40 years
that warm temperatures have
limited ozone depletion.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
said there is no correlation identified between the
weather patterns and climate change.
It’s important to recognize that what we’re seeing this year is due to warmer stratospheric temperatures. It’s not a sign that atmospheric ozone is suddenly on a fast track to recovery. , Chief Scientist of Earth Sciences at NASA Paul Newman.
Scientists expect the ozone hole
to shrink to the same size it was
in 1980 by about 2070
