The Amazon Reef - unchartered territory already under threat
  • 5 years ago
Off the coast of Guiana, a French overseas department perched on the north coast of South America, Greenpeace's research ship Esperanza has been exploring the Amazon Reef, which was only discovered in 2016 despite being one of the largest in the world. A team of French scientists and experts from Greenpeace are on board, working in this unchartered region to identify the diverse marine life thriving on the reef as well as making a case for keeping the area off-limits to fossil fuel foragers.
