Asheeq accuses UM of lying, Wong collects certificate

Universiti Malaya (UM) graduate Wong Yan Ke collected his graduation certificate from the university today, which had been delayed for two days.
With him today was his legal representative Asheeq Ali Sethi Alvi, who branded UM “liars” for saying it had not withheld his client’s certificate.
Wong claimed UM withheld his academic transcript following his protest during the varsity’s graduation ceremony. This was denied by the university’s board of directors chairperson Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen Tengku Ibrahim.
Last weekend, Wong, upon receiving his scroll, proceeded to yell “Tolak rasis. Undur VC. Ini Tanah Malaysia (Reject racist. VC withdraw. This is Tanah Malaysia)” while holding up a placard which listed several reasons why vice-chancellor Abdul Rahim Hashim should resign.
