Heavy police presence at Manchester Arndale Centre after "man with a knife" was arrested on October 18.

Police and emergency services rushed to the shopping centre late Friday night as staff and customers were evacuated from the site.

Greater Manchester Police released a statement on Twitter: "Police remain in attendance at Manchester Arndale Centre following reports of a man with a knife.

"Officers attended and a man has been arrested and taken into custody for questioning.

"There are no reported injuries.

"There is not believed to be any wider threat to the community."
