4th Democratic Debate:
Best Moments Twelve candidates took the stage for the CNN/New York Times debate in Westerville, Ohio. Impeachment was the first topic, with all the candidates in agreement that Trump should be removed from office. Joe Biden defended his son
Hunter when asked about his
business ties to foreign countries. Joe Biden When asked about her support of
Medicare for All, Sen. Elizabeth Warren
refused to say if taxes would
increase for the middle class. Bernie Sanders said taxes would
go up to fund Medicare for All, but they would
be "substantially less" than what is paid
for premiums and out-of-pocket expenses. Sanders also thanked the rival candidates
"for their love, for their prayers" after he suffered
a heart attack earlier this month. Businessman Tom Steyer made his debate debut.
He has long pushed his signature issue -
the impeachment of Donald Trump. Pete Buttigieg and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, both veterans, clashed over her answer on America's role in Syria. Gabbard's view is that America’s presence in the
Middle East, not Trump's removal of troops, is responsible for the recent bloodshed.
