As .: With the basic objective of overcoming the border problems with Argentina, starting the road to bilateral economic complementation, the president of Chile, Patricio Aylwin, arrived in the country. He was received at noon by his colleague Carlos Menem accompanied by the entire cabinet, where the official ceremony was held with the traditional surrender of military honors. Patricio Aylwin, 72, became the first Chilean head of state to make an official visit to our country in the last 40 years, the last had been General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo in 1953 although Salvador Allende, Eduardo Frei and Augusto Pinochet were in the country but on a visit of another character. In the air station both leaders agreed that the 23 border points that are pending so far will be resolved peacefully and especially that of the Desert Lake. In the afternoon, the Trans-Andean president paid tribute to the general liberator of San Martin in the square that bears his name along with the mayor Carlos Grosso. After the intonation of the national anthems of both countries, the ceremony for the decoration of the flag of the regiment of Grenadiers on Horseback was carried out with the order cross of General O'Higgins and also the Chilean president placed a floral offering. After this, the trans-Andean president went to the Government House where he held the first working meeting with the president of the Nation, Carlos Menem. Simultaneously to the greeting in the White Room of the Government House next to the entourage, in the situation room, the Chilean and Argentine delegations deliberated in search of coincidence for the economic agreements, the creation of a mixed parliamentary commission and also the possibility of updating the legislation for the border traffic of people and merchandise.
