A leopard cub was rescued from a sewer drain by concerned residents of the city of Padang, West Sumatra on October 11.

A man named Zaenal saved the leopard cub from the sewer and brought it back to his house to care for it, putting into a container and giving it bananas to eat.

Zaenal said: "The leopard is like a beautiful kitten."

The leopard was cared for at his home for a time, before being released again into the hills of Lubuk Minturun.

It is not known how the leopard cub ended up in the sewer drain. Filmer Redo Jayusman said it could have been separated from its mother and father, where leopards roam the lower reaches of the nearby hills.
