The allocation for Budget 2020 is RM297 billion, RM17.6 billion less than the last budget.
While this may appear like a contractionary budget, the government is actually not spending any less on normal operations and development expenditure.
The reduction is instead due to the absence of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and income tax refund, which amounted to RM37 billion in the last budget.
