Extinction Rebellion attempt to shut London City Airport

Hundreds of Extinction Rebellion activists have attempted to shut down London City Airport by blocking the main entrance for passengers. Some protesters glued themselves to the floor. However, flights appear to be unaffected by the action. One protester was seen climbing on to the roof of the airport entrance. 83-year-old protester Phillip Kingston said: "I'm here for my grandchildren and all of their generation; for the poorest peoples who are suffering most from climate breakdown".
