S. Korea spent $ 8.5 mil in combined drills with U.S. the past 4 years

South Korea has spent around 10-point-2 billion won, or some 8-point-5 million dollars, in combined exercises with the U.S. in the past 4 years.
The figure is included in a report submitted to the National Assembly by the defense ministry and the Joint Chiefs of Staff,... on the drills conducted since 2016 up to this March.
Around 1-point-8 million dollars went to the 2016 Key Resolve exercise,... and 1-point-7-5 million to the Ulchi Freedom Guardian drills that same year.
The recent Dongmaeng drills held in March cost the nation some 9-hundred-60 thousand dollars.
Based on these numbers, some military officials refuted U.S. President Donald Trump's claims... that its allies are “free-riding” America's security commitments.
Other analysts pointed out, as the drills following the Pyeongyang-Washington summit were smaller in scale and did not involve strategic U.S. weapons, the cost should go down significantly.
