S. Korean gov't designates six areas as buffer zones to prevent further ASF outbreaks
  • 5 years ago
The government continues to take measures to prevent the spread of African swine fever.
The latest involves designating buffer zones in 6 cities and counties where the disease has been reported.
They are areas outside the 10 kilometer radius of farms where outbreaks have been confirmed,... namely Goyang, Pocheon, Yangju, Dongducheon, Cheolwon and Yeoncheon county.
Vehicles moving within the buffer zone will be strictly monitored and controlled.
Cars that move in and out of farms must be disinfected and checked every time when passing through these parts.
The agriculture ministry also plans to use GPS to more closely and accurately monitor the movement of vehicles used in pig farming.
