7 Indie & Mainstream Collaborations That Need To Happen! | SpotboyE

A lot of mainstream actors and their movies have been churning out some not-so-offbeat scripts in recent times due to a lack of fresh perspective and talent from outside. This is where Bollywood needs the power of mavens who have rose from the indie industry. Spotboye presents 7 Indie & Mainstream Collaborations That Need To Happen!

If there’s one movie that has proved a mild redundancy in storytelling in Bollywood’s recent slew of films, it’s none other than Raees. While SRK was absolutely electrifying and intense in the movie, the story and direction seemed a bit out of place. To be honest, a bit outdated even. It was something we could’ve expected from a director like Milan Luthria but not Rahul Dholakia. But there was another film that had released a few months ago which proved otherwise, Love You Zindagi. It proved the fact that independent cinema had gifted directors and storytellers that Bollywood is refusing to acknowledge or is doing so at a very slow pace.
This needs to change. While the big studios may disagree and take in some of the more established names, you can’t ignore the fact that indie cinema and its rising players are the best solution to Bollywood’s old themes. And they’ve given us so much. 2016 and 2017 officially mark the years when Bollywood gave us its two most talented directors we know of today – Dibaker Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap, two directors who have literally changed the game and refused to abide to popular themes and notions.
Now just imagine the alchemy of films when mainstream directors and cult cinema specialists collaborate. One of the finest examples in recent times is Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor with Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon in the hall of fame. While we have a long way to go, here’s a look at some possible combinations we hope to see in the near future.
