The search for the next chief justice

Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin retires on October 18. Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio retires a week later, on October 26. With these departures, the 15-man bench will soon have 10 appointees of President Rodrigo Duterte. This does not include the next chief justice, who is technically also a Duterte appointee.
