The country is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the nation today. Today is also the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Interim President of Congress Sonia Gandhi and BJP Executive Chairman JP Nadda went to Rajghat to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the Red Fort on 15 August, called for the closure of single-use plastic, which is used only once, across the country from 2 October. PM Modi can make some important announcements in this regard on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti today.
