A driver allegedly from the cab service app Lyft was arrested during a trip in Jacksonville, Florida on September 18.

Footage captured by a passenger shows the driver being escorted out of the vehicle and subdued on the side of the road.

The filmer told Newsflare: "[The] Lyft driver was going 80 in a 55 on the highway and gets pulled over by police while in the middle of our Lyft ride.

"[He] banters with the officer in a very confrontational way.

"Then ignores the officer's orders to say in the car.

"He jumps out of the car and gets into an altercation with the officer, and is subsequently arrested."

They later added: "I was nervous from the start as my Lyft driver was speeding but refused to admit any guilt.

"He seemed to be very confrontational.

"I filmed this as protection for myself in this ordeal in case this situation escalated and thank goodness I did."

Lyft has been contacted for comment.
