China's FM calls on U.S. to 'synchronize action' with N. Korea to reach political settlement

China's foreign minister is urging North Korea and the U.S. to swiftly return to denuclearization talks, calling on the two sides to grab this opportunity to resolve the issue through a political settlement.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly on Friday, Wang Yi said the best way forward is parallel progress on denuclearization, adding that Pyeongyang and Washington should build trust through synchronized actions.
He added that North Korea has been meeting the U.S. halfway by rolling back its pre-conditions... in order to bolster the chance for a political settlement.
Wang did not mention the regime's recent tests of weapons systems, including short-range missiles.
