George Lucas Felt ‘Betrayed’
by ‘Star Wars’ Sequel Trilogy.
According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, the followup
films to the beloved ‘Star Wars’ franchise did
not sit well with creator George Lucas.
As Iger revealed in his new book, Disney originally
bought three ‘Star Wars’ outlines from Lucas in 2012,
that would possibly be used for future movies. .
Lucas's outlines would have
had the next three movies
explore the "microbiotic
world" of Star Wars.
Disney was not contractually obligated
to use the stories however, and ended up
going a different route with the plot. .
This ultimately led to Lucas feeling
“betrayed” by their decision.
George immediately got upset as they began
to describe the plot and it dawned on him that
we weren’t using one of the stories he submitted
during the negotiations, Bob Iger, via ‘The Ride of a Lifetime’.
Lucas was later “disappointed” when
‘The Force Awakens’ was released in 2015, reportedly
complaining that it didn’t have anything “new.”
