Thousands of tiny ghost crabs run along Thai beach during low tide

This was the incredible moment thousands of ghost crabs were seen running along a beach during low tide.

Hotel porter Khunchai Sommart was walking along the sand after finishing work near Phuket, southern Thailand.

Footage from last Tuesday (September 10) shows the army of the little crustaceans scurrying away as Khunchai walks towards them.

Khunchai asked locals if he should be afraid but they reassured him it was a natural phenomenon.

He said: "I was worried the crabs would surround me and bite my feet but they were actually scared and running away from me.

''The crabs live in the sand and when the seawater level is lower, then they appear. But it's rare to see so many of them come out at the same time.''
