S. Korea says Japan has responded to its request
  • 5 years ago
Japan has agreed to discuss Korea's complaint filed at the WTO over Tokyo's export curbs against Seoul.
The complaint was handed in nine days ago.
Now they have 60 days to reach an agreement.
If they don't, Seoul can then request a WTO panel ruling.
South Korea claims Japan's export curbs are politically motivated and discriminatory, while Japan says they're only meant to properly manage its exports.
Analysts say it's unlikely they'll overcome their differences and that a WTO panel ruling cannot be avoided.
