Hong Kong's new protest 'anthem' gets orchestral treatment at Kowloon shopping mall

Hundreds of people gathered at a popular mall in Hong Kong's Kowloon to sing the protest anthem "Glory to Hong Kong" accompanied by a mini-orchestra on Thursday evening (September 12).

Video filmed at 9pm local time shows shoppers crowding the apm mall in Kwun Tung, chanting and holding signs.

According to reports, the song includes the lines: "For all of our tears on our land / Do you feel the rage in our cries? Rise up and speak up / Our voice echoes / Freedom shall shine upon us."

As protests have been increasingly prohibited by the police on the streets, Hongkongers have expressed their resistance by singing in malls, the filmer said.
