Patients die as traffic jams delay ambulances in the Philippines capital Manila

In Manila, Philippines, emergency workers say patients die en route to hospitals because of the capital city’s notorious traffic jams.  The city of 13 million has almost as many registered vehicles as inhabitants.  Ambulances transporting patients are often stuck in traffic, with vehicles unwilling or unable to move for them.
