Pitra Paksha is an important Hindu festival. During Pitra Paksha, people visits Gaya for performing Shraddha Rituals. In Gaya, Pretshila is the peak where ancestors visits and it is believed that souls enter the world from this end. Pretshila welcomes Aatma in Gaya and they make weird sound after sunset.
श्राद्ध पर्व के शुरू होते ही पितरों की पूजा कर सभी लोग अपने पूर्वजों की आत्मा को शांति पहुंचाते है और मृत्यु जन्म के बंधन से आजाद करते है । इस दौरान गया में प्रेतशिला में आत्माएं आती है और पर्वत के एक खास पत्थर के बीच से प्रेतआत्माओं का आना जाना शुरू हो जाता है । गया पितरों के श्राद्ध के लिए मशहूर है क्योंकि यहीं पर भगवान राम ने राजा दशरथ का श्राद्ध किया था ।
