N. Korea buying luxury goods, selling fishery rights to other countries: UN report
  • 5 years ago
North Korea continues to import luxury goods that it's banned from buying by the UN Security Council.
A report released Thursday by the UN Security Council's North Korea sanctions committee pointed to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's own private car, in particular a Mercedes-Maybach S-600.
Also, it said, more than 100-thousand bottles of vodka that were being taken to North Korea several months ago were seized by another UN member country.
Pyeongyang is also apparently selling fishing rights to other countries to earn foreign currency.
The report said fishing boats from other countries have been seen obtaining... or working to obtain fishery rights in North Korean waters.
