The decision at
St. Edward Catholic School
in Nashville was made its
pastor, Reverend Dan Reehil.
Reehil writes in an email that the use of "curses" and "spells" cast was a reason for his decision.
The curses and spells used in the books are actual curses and spells; which when read by a human being risk conjuring evil spirits into the presence of the person reading the text, Reverend Dan Reehil, via email.
Reehill adds that the seven-book series runs the risk of inspiring someone to "raise evil spirits.".
Many reading these books could be persuaded to believe these acts are perfectly fine, even good or spiritually healthy, Reverend Dan Reehil, via email.

advised by exorcists to
take the books away.
