PNoy's legal advisers should take the fall: Trillanes

MANILA - Senator Antonio Trillanes IV believes legal advisers of President Aquino should take the fall for the disbursement acceleration program (DAP), which was deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Speaking to ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda, Trillanes said he has no regrets about receiving P50 million in DAP funds since every cent went to government projects. "Base sa aming records, nakuha po yan. Liwanagan natin hindi po ito cash na inilagay sa aming opisina. Pondo po ito para sa mga proyekto at doon linagay sa iba't ibang ahensiya yung pondo. Sa amin, lahat ng proyekto namin nakalista sa wesbite, Nagbenefit diyan ibat ibang eskwelehan, ospital at munisipyo," he said. Trillanes said he did not know the funds came from the DAP since his own priority development assistance funds (PDAF) allocation came in tranches. He also said there should be an investigation on the possible allocation of DAP funds to bogus NGOs. The senator said it makes no sense to impeach President Aquino or remove Budget Secretary Butch Abad over the DAP. He noted that even though the SC declared parts of the DAP as unconstitutional, the High Court also said the program resulted in something positive for the economy. "It makes no sense to remove someone who did something that benefited the country," he said. Asked who should take the fall for the DAP, he said: "Kung meron dapat sibakin dito, yung legal advisers na nagsabi na constitutional." ABS-CBN UMAGANG KAY GANDA, July 3, 2014
