Diet Sodas Linked to
Higher Risk of Death, Study Says Conducted by more than
50 researchers, the study was
published Tuesday in the 'Journal
of the American Medical Association.' It focused on the health effects
of both regular and diet soft drinks
on more than 452,000 people in ten
countries, between 1992 and 2000. It found that drinking two or more
"glasses" of diet soda per day was
linked to deaths from circulatory disease,
including coronary artery disease. The study also found an association
between higher soft drink consumption
and risk of death from Parkinson's disease. Research Study, via MarketWatch A study published earlier this year
linked regular soft drinks to greater
risk of death from cardiovascular disease. Other studies have linked
both sugary and artificially
sweetened soft drinks to higher
risk of Type 2 diabetes and obesity.
