Topic: Rahib Ka Waqaya, The Story of Rahib, the Priest from Najran. Rahib, also known as Raahib, was a Christian priest who was present during the time of the Prophet (pbuh) and is said to be present during the time of Mubahila. He was childless and wished to have children, so he sought to ask Muhammad (pbuh) but was told there were none decreed to him by God. Seeing a distressed Raahib, Imam Hussain told him not to despair. Thereafter, he was bestowed 7 sons through the waseela of Imam Hussain, who was around 4-6 years old at the time. Indebted to Imam Hussain (as), Rahib then asks Imam Hussain (as) to be his guest, to which the Imam replies, “Rahib, I promise on day I will surely visit your house with my entire kunba (family).” Since that day on Rahib waits for the Imam’s arrival. After the shahadat of Imam Hussain (as), the year 61 AH, Imam Hussain and his family are held as prisoners by Yazid (la) and are traveling to Damascus. Sure enough Imam Hussain’s head is on a spear and arrives to the house of Rahib (aka Dar e Rahib) in Halab.
