SC issues TRO on new firearms law
The Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013. In a press briefing on Tuesday, SC spokesperson Theodore Te said the TRO restraints the Philippine National Police (PNP) from centralizing all firearms applications and renewals at Camp Crame. According to Te, the TRO also restraints the PNP from utilizing any courier service for the deliveries of approved firearms licenses as well as implementing and enforcing the "waiver and consent" requirement which allows PNP personnel to enter gun applicants' residents for inspection.
