The fire on Mount Banahaw in Sariaya, Quezon has started to die down. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said, based on the smoke and the geographical features of the mountain, they no longer expect the fire to spread to other areas. Officials estimate the fire damaged around 50 hectares of forest land. Meanwhile, disaster officials said the fire was man-made and was not a result of extreme humidity. Authorities are now investigating whether a group of mountaineers or a religious group may have caused the fire. ANC News Now, March 20, 2014
