Tricycle robbers stuck in traffic get a beating

MANILA – Three suspected robbers failed to make a clean getaway after the tricycle they were stealing got stuck in traffic in Malabon Wednesday. Suspects Jaymark Paner, Eduardo Tambalo and Rudy Gonzalo were arrested after robbing a tricycle driver of his belt bag and vehicle. Tricycle driver Joven Melendrez said the suspects pretended to be passengers who then robbed him in the middle of their trip. "Sabi ko kunin niyo na lahat, huwag niyo lang ako sasaktan," Melendrez said. After the robbery, Melendrez sought help from fellow motorists who chased the suspects. The three suspects failed to get away after getting stuck in traffic and were beaten up. Paner, one of the suspects, claimed he seized the tricycle because wants to go home to Caloocan. "Wala kasi kaming sasakyan. Wala kaming pamasahe," he said. Another tricycle driver, Gerald Arnisto, also surfaced to press robbery charges against the suspects.
