Leyte gov: We need more trucks
MANILA - Leyte Governor Dominic Petilla is seeking assistance from mayors in his province to distribute relief goods to "Yolanda" survivors. Petilla told ANC the local government lacks manpower to deliver supplies to every municipality. He urged mayors in Leyte to pick up allocated goods in DSWD centers and deliver these to affected constituents. "As far as the province is concerned,I don't think we hav enough resources like trucks and personnel to deliver to each town. That's why we asked mayors if they have trucks that survived, bring them to DSWD center and pick up allocations for their towns so the delivery of goods will be quicker. That's what we agreed. In fact, if there are some goods being delivered, we don't allow them to unload. Just go straight to municipality so we don't waste time in the distribution," he said. Petilla said they are closely monitoring aid distribution in the province to ensure everyone gets their fair share of goods but he hopes relief packs sent to them will soon include palay and vegetable seeds so farmers can begin planting crops.
