PNoy to keep his yellow shirt

MANILA - President Aquino is not changing his trademark yellow shirt even if some critics say the color is meant to show the division between his political allies and his enemies. Speaking to ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma said Aquino's trademark yellow shirt harkens back to the assassination of Aquino's father, the late Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. Asked if Aquino would change the color of his shirt when he goes to typhoon-affected areas, Coloma said: "Wala naman pong pulitika. Pagbigyan na po natin. Simula po nung napaslang ang kanyang ama, siguro po yun ay isang personal rather than a political statement. Wala pong kulay ng pulitika yun." Anti-Marcos protesters earlier adopted the song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'round the Ole Oak Tree" to signify their support for Ninoy Aquino's return from exile in 1983. Since Aquino's assassination, the color yellow has been used primarily by supporters of the Aquino family. ABS-CBN News, November 18, 2013
