PH climate change official makes tearful plea for action
  • 5 years ago
Philippine Climate Change Commissioner Naderev Saño broke down in tears as he spoke before the UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw, Poland. Saño told delegates from nearly 200 countries that the Philippines refuses to accept a future where super typhoons like Yolanda become a fact of life. Saño, who hails from Leyte, said there should be global solidarity to fight climate change. "We can take drastic action now to ensure that we prevent a future where super typhoons become a way of life," he said, his voice choking with emotion. His emotional appeal was met with a standing ovation. He also said he will fast throughout the 11-day conference in solidarity with fellow Filipinos affected by 'Yolanda' and until there was concrete progress on action to tackle climate change. - ANC, Mornings@ANC, November 12, 2013
