Donaire hurt in Darchinyan fight

MANILA, Philippines – Former world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire suffered an injury during his 10-round featherweight showdown against Armenian Vic “The Raging Bull” Darchinyan last weekend in Texas. Donaire revealed that he sustained an orbital fracture when he was hit in the face in the fifth round. He went on to overcome a sluggish start to eventually knock out Darchinyan in the ninth round. Donaire, who was trailing on two of the judges’ scorecards at the time of the stoppage, said he plans to rest for a while, but will fly to the Philippines if given a medical clearance. -- Mornings @ ANC, November 12, 2013.
