Bohol execs deny unequal distribution of quake aid
  • 5 years ago
MANILA - Bohol officials denied there is unequal distribution of aid across quake-hit areas. Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto said they continue to encounter difficulty in getting relief goods to landslide-hit towns where roads have to be cleared. The national government has provided 4 helicopters and 9 Navy boats for faster distribution of aid. The Bohol government has also put up a new repacking center and received a thousand volunteers since the quake struck a week ago. "Level 1 are those towns in the epicenter, more than half of the province. This particular level were the first ones given relief goods. In remote islands these were areas that we had difficulty in distribution. Let me emphasize that the local municipal government receives the good from the provincial government because this is mandated and by reason of operational system coordination under this set-up follows this system. From municipal to barangay, our distribution in barangay is now given much importance because we have now the follow up equipment like the boat and the chopper, we now have a faster mechanism."
