MANILA, Philippines - The Camarines Sur Electric Cooperative (CASURECO 3) is scheduled to be cut off from the grid by Wednesday. This is still in connection with its over P100 million debt to the supplier. "Casureco 3 is scheduled forn disconnection tomorrow. I see no immediate move from stakeholders to prevent the disconnection. I am now arranging security with PNP chief to maintain peace and order," Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla said in a text message to ANC. Petilla said he does not see any immediate move from the stakeholders to prevent the disconnection. Petilla added he is now coordinating with police to help maintaine peace and order once the disconnection happens. CASURECO 3 was cut off from the grid on October 1, plunging Iriga City and 5 municipalities into darkness. Power was restored the next day after the coop agreed with its supplier and local officials to pay off the balance in three tranches. - ANC
