PNP: Poll-related violence climbs to 46

MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) calls Monday's barangay polls as generally peaceful. However, the number of violent incidents related to the polls has climbed to 46. From this number, 30 of the victims were elected officials and 22 resulted in death. A total of 644 people have also been arrested for violating the gun ban while 221 people were nabbed because of the liquor ban. Meanwhile, Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas vowed to look into the cases. The PNP is also looking at reports of vote-buying incidents. ANC Dateline Philippines, October 29, 2013
