MANILA – Thirteen Vietnamese poachers were arrested in Balabac, Palawan last Friday. The 13 Vietnamese nationals were caught fishing in the waters of Barangay Mangsee last October 18, Friday. An inspection by the authorities of the Vietnamese nationals' boat yielded several dead turtles which are not allowed to be caught under Philippine laws. The endangered marine species were supposed to be brought to Vietnam and Malaysia. Authorities are set to conduct an inventory of the marine species seized from the Vietnamese nationals on Tuesday. The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development said the 13 Vietnamese nationals are facing charges for violating Republic Act 8550 or the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998. – report from Rex Ruta, ABS-CBN News Palawan
