MANILA - The Makati Regional Trial Court entered a not guilty plea for businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles in the serious illegal detention case filed against her by relative and former aide Benhur Luy. Napoles arrived at the Makati RTC around 1 p.m. from her detention cell in Fort Santo Domingo in Laguna. Napoles and her brother, Reynald Lim, were ordered arrested on August 14 for the alleged illegal detention of Luy, the whistle-blower in the multi-billion pork barrel scam. Napoles, the alleged mastermind in a P10 billion pork barrel scam, surrendered to President Aquino on August 28 while her brother remains at large. She earlier asked that the venue of her arraignment be moved from Makati to Fort Santo Domingo, citing security and logistical reasons. However, the Makati RTC said the decision is up to the Supreme Court. The bail hearing on Napoles' serious illegal detention case is set on September 27. Meanwhile, the Senate Blue Ribbon Committe has asked the Office of the Senate President Franklin Drilon to sign the subpoena that will compel Napoles to attend its hearing on Thursday.
